Swarm Workshop 2025
SmartEdge co-organised the Swarm Workshop 2025 (26/27. Nov.) in Brussels. The workshop presented the progress made by the European Swarm Computing Cluster projects. Over 120 experts from academia, industry and the European Commission attended this workshop to discuss the future of decentralised intelligence and autonomous systems.
The event was a joint effort organised by SmartEdge together with other projects in the cluster: TaRDIS, OASEES, P2CODE and OpenSwarm. It served as an important milestone to bring together the project results and to align the technical roadmaps.
Technical sessions focused on:
- Swarm concept and taxonomy: Session on the classification of swarm behaviour and the specific architectural components required for distributed intelligence.
- Technical sessions: Advances in semantic integration and low-code tools that simplify the orchestration of complex data fusion at the edge for developers.
- Industry-specific applications: Introduction of the projects use cases in smart manufacturing and logistics, showing how coordination at the edge improves flexibility and safety in manufacturing.
- Demo exhibition: Live simulations of decentralised orchestration and swarm networking technologies from each project.
SmartEdge had live demonstrations of Use Cases two (preventing rear-end collisions) and three (mobile robot swarms) together with some related artefact demonstrations. For all other use cases videos were prepared to discuss the use cases during the two day workshop. Following some impressions from the workshop:
